Face Fit Testing
Face Fit Testing checks that a tight-fitting mask or respirator properly fits the wearer, ensuring effective protection against airborne hazards. It is essential for workers in environments with dust, fumes, or chemicals to confirm their respiratory equipment seals correctly.
We provide Quantitative & Qualitative face fit testing with all our technicians accredited through Fit2Fit. We provide on the day certification in correspondence to HSE INDG 479.

What is Face Fit Testing?
Face Fit Testing is a legal requirement for anyone who wears tight-fitting respiratory protective equipment (RPE) such as FFP3 masks, half-mask respirators or full-face respirators in the workplace. The purpose of face fit testing is to ensure that the selected mask forms an effective seal against the wearer's face, preventing harmful dust, fumes, fibres, vapours, biological hazards and airborne contaminants from entering the breathing zone. Even the highest-quality respiratory protective equipment may fail to provide adequate protection if it does not fit the individual correctly.
Face Fit Testing is recommended by the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and is an essential part of any respiratory protection programme. It is commonly required across construction, healthcare, NHS, manufacturing, engineering, utilities, pharmaceuticals, laboratories and waste management industries where workers may be exposed to hazardous substances. At Apex Health & Safety, our Fit2Fit accredited specialists provide both qualitative and quantitative face fit testing services throughout the UK, helping organisations meet their legal obligations while protecting the health and safety of their workforce.
Our mobile face fit testing service allows testing to be carried out directly at your workplace, reducing downtime and ensuring compliance is achieved quickly and efficiently. Upon successful completion, participants receive same-day certification, providing employers with documented evidence that their respiratory protective equipment has been correctly fitted and tested. Whether you require FFP3 face fit testing for healthcare workers, respirator fit testing for construction projects, or ongoing support for a large workforce, Apex Health & Safety delivers professional face fit testing services nationwide from our depots in Edinburgh, Manchester and London.
