What is Face Fit Training?

Face Fit Training provides individuals with the knowledge and practical skills required to carry out face fit testing on respiratory protective equipment (RPE) in line with HSE guidance and industry best practice. The course covers respiratory protection, mask selection, qualitative and quantitative face fit testing methods, and the correct procedures for testing tight-fitting respirators and FFP3 masks.

At Apex Health & Safety, we deliver Face Fit Training courses across the UK, including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Liverpool, Bristol and Cardiff. Our training is suitable for organisations within healthcare and NHS settings, construction, manufacturing, engineering, utilities, rail, pharmaceuticals and other industries where respiratory protection is essential. By training competent in-house testers, businesses can improve compliance, reduce costs and ensure their workforce remains protected from workplace respiratory hazards.

Face Fit Testing plays a vital role in ensuring respiratory protective equipment provides the level of protection it is designed to deliver. Even when the correct mask is selected, factors such as face shape, size, facial features and incorrect fitting can prevent an effective seal from being achieved. Without face fit testing, harmful dust, fumes, fibres, vapours and airborne contaminants may enter the mask, putting the wearer at risk.
